Random weekend pictures

Okay, time to put up some pics you guys have sent in.

Here's a food stand in Israel, whose owner is trying to figure out why English speakers aren't lining up for his product:

Here we have a school district that's apparently given up on being excellent, or even pretty good:

Then there's this store. I'm not sure what an "aromas artisan" is, but after lunch at Taco Bell, Craig probably qualifies... and not in a good way.

This is about as use-specific as a soap can get:

This is an armored military vehicle developed by Venezuela in the 1930's, during border tensions with Columbia. Regrettably, Star Wars was still 40 years in the future, so no one recognized the Darth Vader chic.

  1. The stealth motif was strong with this one.

  2. I always wondered how a country like Venezuela became such a worldwide military super power.

  3. Myself, I prefer middle-aged falafel...but I'm not touching that soap.

Turret on those tanks looks a bit like a beanie.

  4. Darth Vader? Those armoured vehicles look more like Daleks from Dr. Who

  5. That falafel sign has the same problem in Hebrew. "Antique falafel," it says.

I don't get it- people will pay a fortune for dry-aged steak...

  8. There's a town not to far from me called Maybe. Sadly, they don't have their own school district.

Hmm, apparently they're part of the Dundee school system. That's doubly sad, as they had a chance for the Maybe Dundee School.

  10. Does 'old' mean something other than elderly in Israel? ... because I know only one meaning for the word falafel in any language and I wouldn't use the word 'new' or 'young' or 'decrepit' to describer her, though maybe it's a play on garbanzo vs 'chick' pea, or the fava bean, or maybe it refers to the artisanal aroma after a full-bodied meal without Beano.I doubt it's just 'okay' in Dundee, though, wherever it may be.
