Green bananas

Mr. Hills: "I need a refill on my Fukitol while I'm here."

Dr. Grumpy: "Sure..." (Grabs script pad, starts writing) "Hey, do you need this written for a 30 or 90 day supply?"

Mr. Hills: "Just 30 days. For crap's sake, doc, I'm 91 years old."

  1. Thank you for asking your patients that, though. My husband has taken daily thyroid medication for six years. I've spoken to the person at the pharmacy counter, and our insurance, wanting to get it as a 90-day supply instead of 30. It wasn't until this year when I switched pharmacies that I got actual instructions telling us how - that we needed to have the doctor write the prescription a certain way in order to get a 90-day supply. I had no idea that was how it worked, and no one had ever mentioned it to us (not even the endocrinologist). So THANK YOU for asking your patients, even if the 91 year olds get a little cranky.

  3. I wonder if my 92 year old mother in law would think that's funny...yeah, probably. She's pretty cool. Thanks for sharing. I'll try it out on her.

  5. Yeah sure but just try and get Percocet on a 90 day supply, can't even buy it with a cash co pay.

I have BP meds, they come mail order, the ins co contacted my dr. to ask why I am not taking them anymore. I do take them, but the mail order pharmacy has sent me a two year supply, I don't have to have the prescription renewed for 2 years.

  9. In vet med, there's a phrase for having a lot of poor prognostic indicators...small bag of dog/cat/horse/parrot food.
