Book 'em, Danno!

Wednesday night I was doing a survey about drug reps, and one of the questions asked where I encounter them:

I must say, I LOVE the correctional facility option. In my younger days I did see patients at a prison clinic, but don't remember a drug rep ever calling there. Yesterday I asked several reps, and none of them had ever heard of it, either.

Since I'm able to fill out this survey, I have to assume they don't think I'm the one in jail. Which leaves just one option. And I'm not driving down to the hoosegow to visit a rep.*

*The odds of a rep being incarcerated depends on the pharmaceutical company they work for.

  1. Perhaps the company is looking for new revenue streams, or maybe there's an anachist in the questionaire department...

  2. I'm just glad I left my company with a legacy to never do anything unethical, illegal, or underhanded.

  4. considering all our clinical staff had were great lighted pens that kept children entertained for short time, but ink was suspect, but were still free...while the cardiology brothern were sent to the M in san fran for pacemaker training.... crime somewhere on that ethical slide...

  5. If it was me writing this blog entry, I would have inserted the word "unfortunately" at the beginning of this:

"*The odds of a rep being incarcerated depends on the pharmaceutical company they work for."

But, then again, the reps are just doing their jobs, and the companies themselves are the ones who are to be questioned as to their honesty.

(On a side note, the captcha I am asked to type in order to post this is "attiturd". LOL! Yeah, I'm expressing a turdy attitude right now about drug companies!)

  6. "Are you familiar with our new line of lethal injection drugs? Let me leave you some free samples, some informational brochures that you can give to the condemned prisoners, and of course some of these pens and Post-Its."

  7. You haven't lived until you've stood in line in prison for a handful of pills ;)

  8. You know, the places where I meet the most reps are at sponsor-paid CE programs, job fairs, medical conferences, industry-sponsored learning opportunities in pharmacy school and pharmacist conventions. Where else? Many hospitals that I work prohibit pharmaceutical reps on site. As for showing up in prison, I cannot imagine what a rep would be marketing!
