@Helsie: I have a couple of other pet hates... loose instead of lose and then instead of than... and let's not get started on there, their and they're. ;-)
It's the bumper's fault, obviously, being just two characters too small. But, they'd have room for the apostrophe and E if they didn't have the extra exclamation marks...
I work in graphic design, and constantly scan printed material/advertising to see what got screwed up grammatically... used to be just occasional sightings on small family-run restaurant menus. Now it's on billboards, national advertising, television.
My pet-peeve is the abuse of the apostrophe - "car's" when they mean "cars." OMG people! Basic punctuation and grammar are taught in GRADE SCHOOL!
Are people getting dumber, or do they just really not care any more?
Well...maybe it's a not-so-smart car :)
ReplyDeleteYour too picky.
ReplyDeleteNo one speaks English good anymore.
ReplyDeleteso tired of seeing stoopidity in public.
ReplyDeleteconsult a dictionary, eh ?~!
Proving once again that using 'spell check' does not confer 'smarts'.
ReplyDeletew/v: thinker (best part of posting comments here!)
No credit? No problem! Bad credit? No problem! Not knowing the difference between "your" and "you're?" No problem!
ReplyDeleteMy absolute pet hate in all grammatical errors!
ReplyDeleteCheers

ReplyDeleteAlmost as bas as "artisanal."
ReplyDeleteThis is to ensure that grammar nerds return the car!

@LaLa They just don't care anymore. So often when I point out people's mistakes, they say "Why does it matter? You understood my point."
ReplyDelete... Except now sometimes it takes 5 minutes to understand the point instead of just reading and knowing. Ugh...
Punctuation saves lives:
ReplyDeleteLet's eat Grandpa.
vs
Let's eat, Grandpa.
