Could the quote be construed as meaning that the patient's pain was constantly present, but the intensity varied at different times? Interesting wording, though.
The first part sounds like something I've said in the past...I don't think I've used intermittently in a sentence before though, even to describe varying levels of chronic pain.
So is she sortof Blondish Brunette Thinly overweight with a stocky frail build too?

Consistantly inconsistant pain is the worst...if I'm going to be in pain, I at least want it to be reliable.
