Mental Imagery

As I was leaving the hospital tonight, I noticed this sign in the doctor's lounge:

"Medical Grand Rounds this week: Pushing the train out of the tunnel- New treatments for constipation."

  1. Yes, that is imagery. Most medical writers don't have that kind of flair.

  5. Oh, doc, shall I regale you with some constipatory imagery..?

Attacking from above and below, the physiatrist gave the injured patient a bottle of magnesium citrate and one magic bullet.

It's magic, all right, if you like the color brown a couple of hours (give or take) later.

Here's for smooth sailinc (sorry was almost punny word verification)

  6. Does it whistle like a train as it comes out of the tunnel?

  7. Pushing is old. Pulling would be new.

  8. And from the point of view of the doctor or nurse, it's much better to push the train from the station than pull it out of the station!

  12. Obviously written by someone who'd been up waaaay too long on call. "I just worked three shifts with no Diet Coke. You want me to what??" See column one, row two.

  13. All I know is that the hospital loves its chemicals. Colace and milk of magnesium. Awful stuff. Seriously, can't they just try offering prune juice? Just once? It works one hell of a lot better.
