I'm SO freakin' touched

Today a drug rep dropped off this box of chocolates at the office.

  1. You can send them to me if you don't want them.

  2. Yeah, right. The staff inhaled them as soon as the rep left.

  3. It says artisan twice. I'm surprised you haven't killed someone by now.

  4. You have to appreciate the redundancy of saying something is "handmade" and "artisan".

  5. That's much nicer than the drug rep dropped off at the pharmacy I was floating at. All we got was a package of double stuff oreos, was to remind us about some test strip or something.

  6. They must have found your blog. Next thing I know my Xopenex will be Artisan. G-d help us all.

  7. At least these might actually have been handcrafted, as opposed to, say, lettuce...

  8. Probably "handmade" or "handcrafted" has gone out of fashion because of American phobia of germs.

  9. You have singlehandedly made me seek out further instances of 'artisan' related things.

  10. You should probably become an "Artisanal" Neurologist - you could specialize in old school blood letting and leaches. It's all in the marketing isn't it?

    ReplyDelete
  11. ya know, "Artisan Neurology" has quite the ring to it.

  12. Who the hell is this guy Artisan and how does he manage to make all those different things?

    ReplyDelete
  13. @Carrie- the artisan could have made them with some other body part.

  14. At a pharmacy in the near future: "Would you like brand-name, generic, or artisanal?"

  15. But if these things didn't happen to you, you wouldn't be Dr. Grumpy.

You'd be Dr. Indifferent or Dr. Mildly Unimpressed.

The world would spin off it's axis.

The box must be artisanal too cuz it looks good enough to eat. Just sayin'.

  17. That drug rep's been reading your blog!

  18. I know I'm supposed to be focused on the artisanal nature of the chocolates/box, but I can't get past the name "Knipschildt".

  19. Tell the rep, Candy is dandy but liquor is quicker, and Aruba is well............get that script pad out.

  20. Artisan, is the new "Classic". For a long time everything was Classic this, Classic that...

  21. And all our drug reps ever drop off is barbecue.

  22. I think you need a massive bottle of tipp-ex.

  23. My kids have a favorite Care Bears movie they watch, I happened to glance up at the screen just in time to see this: Artisan Home Entertainment. I laughed my butt off and the kids looked at me like I was crazy.

  24. Funnily enough, the department store I work at here in the UK just had it's new season briefing material in and one of the points it makes is about how "Artisan is a big trend this season"

  25. At least it looks like a whole box of chocolates. Didn't a rep give your office a box of partially-eaten chocolates last year?

    ReplyDelete
  26. Yeah, that was in 2009, around Xmas.

  27. Sure this rep reads your blog??! Must have done it on purpose??(-: Here in New Zealand the buzz word is "retro" for every damn thing...just because something is doing the rounds again (to make more money for the company - marketing is king...) it becomes "retro" Drives me crazy, order a coffee and its served in a "RETRO CUP" .wow. Like it's supposed to make it taste better??!
*is there really a "Knipchildt Chocolatier"?? Sounds a little creepy; especially if read phonetically.. Probably a retro company too....

  28. Doubt it. I mean, it's hard to buy something that DOESN'T say artisan these days. We live in artisanal times.

  29. I actually laughed out loud. In real life. Good one.

  31. Holy cow! It really is everywhere. I just saw a commercial full of this: http://www.olivegarden.com/specials/

  32. LT:
I saw that Olive Garden commercial earlier and burst out laughing!! My son came running in and asked what was so funny. I was laughing so hard I couldn't talk!

Dr. Grumpy has ruined that word for me.

  33. Which reminded me, a drug rep is bringing in lunch for the hospitalists today and I am invited. Good work, Dr. G!

  34. OOOH! Some one spent some serious Money for those chocolates! Franz Knipschildt makes really good chocolates. He's an amazing chocolatier. They have a shop in CT. He's been on Bobby Flay's throwdown, and Food Network challenges in Chocolate making/sculpture.

(However, I do agree with you re: the over usage of Artisan to describe things)
