Look, Mr. Ohseedee, the prescription I wrote you on Friday is for "Tylenol #3, 20 pills".
It DOES NOT say "Tylenol, 320 pills". I'm looking at my copy right now.
I'm well aware that Tylenol doesn't need a prescription. You don't need to tell me that. I swear, I would NOT have written you a prescription for regular Tylenol.
So there was no need to call me all freaking weekend to argue about it.
Just take it to the pharmacy if you won't take my word for it. They'll tell you the same thing.
Trust me. I'm a doctor.

Wow. I'm sure you discussed this Rx with him before you wrote it, and it didn't occur to him to ask you about it before he left?
ReplyDeleteYes, I did. Maybe he didn't have anything better to do over the weekend.
ReplyDeleteIf you spent all weekend arguing with this guy over a script, my guess is the "I'm a doctor" thing didn't get you that far...
ReplyDeleteIf he'd actually gotten the prescription, perhaps he would have felt better and lass argumentative.
>:p
Word verification: strut...as in, do the "I'm a doctor strut" BWAH!
Rule #1 of perscription drugs: If you do not immediately haul ass to your pharmacy to fill/pick up said medication after doctor visit/phone call/etc., you aren't as sick as you think you are. (Or in this case, in as much pain as you claim to be.)
ReplyDeleteHe was probably just mad that you didn't write for Tylenol #3, 320 pills.
ReplyDeleteLast I checked, forging or altering an Rx was a legit crime. Pharmacy staff are pretty good at interpreting what the Rx says (and what it doesn't) even if the Dr's handwriting is questionable. Just another idiot drug seeker, methinks.

Mr. Ohseedee!!! Bwahahha!
ReplyDeleteIf you (very appropriately) discharged from your practice all the patients discussed here, would there be any left?
ReplyDeleteShould have been an Ativan Rx.
ReplyDeleteHe must be commatose.
ReplyDeleteNah, just bored.
ReplyDeleteYou got off lightly. Imagine all the poor friends and relatives who, for the rest of their lives, are going to be regaled over and over with the story about the time the dumb neurologist wrote him a prescription for 320 Tylenol, but he sure told him a thing or two, because there's a big difference between book smarts like the fancy doctor has and good old common sense like he has...etc.
ReplyDeleteHas diagnosis on Axis II.

ReplyDeleteHistrionic, Obsessive, Dependent...take your pick ;)
But with the change in flex rules come 01/01/2011, if patients want reimbursement from flex they're going to have to have that rx for the OTC meds.... :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for the laugh. I had a crappy weekend and need a chuckle this morning.
ReplyDeleteAnd you know this guy is going to give us poor pharmacy folks a hard time too. Please tell Mary to be expecting our call.
ReplyDeletetylenol#3 #360. do it right next time.
ReplyDeleteI'm giggling imagining what happens when/if he finally takes the Tylenol #3. He'll probably call the pharmacy and argue they gave him the wrong thing/ a bad batch/ what's up with the hazy headed side effects, etc. or he'll never want the non-prescription stuff again.
