If at first you don't succeed, try, try, again

So many people these days give up too easily. They try something once, it doesn't work, and so they don't bother to do it again.

It was therefore refreshing to read this news story, about an enterprising gentleman who was willing to try something a second time, after the first hadn't worked out.

Here's the link.

Thank you, Jennifer!

  1. Such an interesting scenario

Robber: I'm going to rob you!

    Clerk: No, you're not.

    Robber: ...ok *leaves dejected*

  2. If he ever applies to med school, a personal statement based on how this encounter taught him the value of determination = Auto-accept.

  5. If he showed this much determination when doing LEGAL things, he might be a lot better off.

    Just sayin'.

  6. Probably went out to his car, where his wife asked him why he didn't do what she told him to do, and sent him back in to get it right.

  7. Well, they do say that success is only getting up 10 times, after you've screwed up the other 9.

  8. I think the guy is a alcoholic lost soul, whose only means of getting a meal is to spend some time. Wake up to what is happening around you and just wait until Christmas, when the downtrodden have no money to buy a little something for the toddler or the wife. Desperate men do desperate things. Schadenfreude on you all if you can't empathize with them.

  9. If the guy had gone to a local food bank to get some food, that is one thing. But to attempt to rob a store and threaten someone with a weapon? I think that's where our empathy runs out.

  10. The shelves of the food banks are bare. The food bank does not pay the heat bill. I did tell you yesterday that desperate men do desparate things. Doc will tell you that people aren't going to the Doc because they can't afford it. My dentist tells me of people coming in needing root canal to save the tooth, but cant afford it so they opt for simple extraction.
    This is the peace dividend.
