I NEVER drink water from the toilet.
Blackdog doesn't seem to mind doing so, but I personally don't think it sounds healthy.
A scientific poll of the office staff, and a few drug reps and patients, found that 100% of people I saw today agreed that toilets should not, except under extreme circumstances, be considered a source of drinking refreshment.
Apparently, though, this isn't as common a belief as I'd like to think it is.
The city of Chandler, Arizona, has unveiled their new city hall building, which (I SWEAR!) includes signs in the bathrooms specifically telling people NOT TO DRINK FROM THE TOILET!!!
Here's the story. And thank you, Lee, for sending this in.
next we'll be telling people not to put plastic bags over their heads - oh wait ...
ReplyDeletei've actually worked in an office where the lights turn off when no motion is detected after x minutes. It was really annoying in the meeting rooms - obviously none of us moved enough to keep the lights on for any period of time. Maybe they should just install exercise bikes to run the lights and then you'ld have to move!
thats just for the stick hicks alliance brings into the neighborhood
ReplyDeleteI work at a major hospital in Portland, OR and it also has signs over all of the toilets saying not to drink the water. I guess common sense isn't so common?
ReplyDeleteNo wonder peolpe from AZ are so messed up. That explains a lot.
ReplyDeleteAnd specifically warning people not to eat the little packet of silica gel that comes in shoes and purses.
ReplyDeleteShouldn't the signs also have pictograms, just in case?
ReplyDeleteUsually silly signs meant someone successfully sued and won something for doing something extremely stupid that doesn't fit into an abstract concept called "common sense".
ReplyDeleteThese assholes made us as a society seems like a collection of idiots.
Well who can really resist the ice cool water from a toilet bowl on a hot summer's day?
ReplyDeleteActually, it's not quite as insane as it appears on first blush. The sign associate with the article makes mention of gray water being used for the urinals. There's enough uncertainty involved with using other than potable water for any purpose within public buildings that I imagine that's simply a blanket code requirement for any gray water usage, be it a deep sink, a toilet, or a hose connection.
ReplyDeleteI see a new role for student interns - jogging around conference tables, doing a quick couple of sets of floor exercises in the engineers' offices and coders' cubes...
ReplyDeleteI've seen those signs. I always thought they were for non-potable water.
ReplyDeleteMy dog will NOT drink out of the toilet, even when her water bowl is empty.
what's really funny in my house is when the dog busts into the bathroom to get his drink and is in such a rush to get to the toilet bowl that he knocks the cat, who was already there drinking...into the toilet...
ReplyDeleteDo they post those signs in AZ in english and spanish?
Well, it is pretty damn hot there.
ReplyDeleteAfter a talk on the environment given in my daughter's 6th grade class, she refused to drink out of any water fountains. When we asked why she said they were told that water used in drinking fountains water was the same as the water used in the toilets. It took years for us to overcome this, as parents are always wrong.
ReplyDeleteMost of the people now living in Arizona come from a land where they have never seen toilet bowls.
ReplyDeleteIt is an edgy joke , mi amigos.
Maybe they should also put up some signs saying not to urinate in the drinking fountains.
ReplyDeleteThe international airport in Sydney, Australia, also has signs in the toilets warning people not to drink the water in the toilets. The signs have been much-photographed by bemused tourists.
ReplyDeleteI had a patient on fluid restriction who WOULD drink out of the toilet. We had to shut off the water in the room during their stay.
ReplyDeleteAnd no, they weren't confused or mentally ill. Just...kind of gross.
it's hot and DRY out west..they sell water in kiosks..this is a free market economy....
