Great Moments in Psychiatry

Mrs. Lithium: "I'm so much better now that I'm on medication. They used to tell me all kinds of stuff before they finally decided I was bipolar."

Dr. Grumpy: "What did they say you were before bipolar?"

Mrs. Lithium: "Italian."

  1. On one hand I think it would be fantastic if the comments on this post became a merry string of links in that vein. ("What did they say you were before passive-aggressive?" "Midwestern.")

On the other, it would produce an unimaginably large tartfest, wouldn't it.

You must understand us to love us, but don't ask us to dinner or we'll tell you sure! call me sometime, while praying you don't.

  3. Speaking as someone diagnosed with this, I have to say, BD is definitely better than Italian because I can take medicine and pass as normal :O

  5. Actually, I had a client with just that problem....Italian,..but kept planning to take her grandson for special research studies in a Middle Eastern country....somehow I kept thinking she had some other "mental" issue going on. Hmmm.

  7. Who are those people that tell you all kinds of stuff, and that 'they' finally come up 'bipolar' but before that tell you you're Italian. Just bring them over and I'll get one of mine to rough them up a little.
