Calendar WTF?

Dr. Grumpy: "How often do you miss a medication dose?"

Mr. Gregorian: "Um... Once a month. So in a given year, it would vary depending on the months in a year... so I'd say I miss 8-14 doses per year, depending on that year's calender".

  1. Your patient sounds about as intelligent as my old internist who once tried to convince me that there were 48 weeks in a year.

  2. The definition of 'month' being... hmm, waxing and waning of the moon, or is the issue that he forgets a dose on either on 30th or 31st day of the month?

  3. Maybe he goes by a lunar calendar (e.g., the Jewish calendar), where there's a leap month every few years. Or maybe he comes from a planet with more than one moon.

  4. Or... maybe his problems are more serious than he thinks they are.

  5. This reminds me of the time my college roommate was trying to balance her checkbook and kept complaining about how "this base 60 system is so confusing". For some reason she believed that there were 60 cents in a dollar "like how there are 60 minutes in an hour". No alcohol was involved and we genuinely had to spend time explaining to her that there were actually 100 cents in a dollar and that she needed to start over with the checkbook.
