We All Live in a Yellow CME...

I get ads in the mail for CME (Continuing Medical Education) courses. They're generally boring-looking brochures, listing courses like "Stroke Update- 2009" or "Epilepsy Review". They're held at places like "Headupyourbutt University Medical Center" or "Insanely Expensive Resort & Spa". So I toss them in the paper recycling bin.

Yesterday, however, a remarkable one came in the mail for a music themed neurology CME! Featuring hits of the 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's!

I'm still not going to the meeting, but you guys at Case Western get a big Dr. Grumpy "A+" for creativity.

Check it out! Test your classic rock trivia!

  2. You get the funniest stuff and see the craziest patients! It's entertaining to see sessions with names like Born to be Wild etc. just to make a boring topic more exciting!

  3. "Wish You Were Here: Brain death." Good thing I put my coffee down before I read that, or I'd've needed a new keyboard. (Of course that song was written about mental illness to start with.) I wonder what it says about me that I know every song on that list, despite having been born in 1968?

Unfortunately for me, it doesn't say it's accredited for continuing pharmaceutical education credit (although they do say that nurses and allied health practitioners may benefit). It might be worth the hundred bucks for the web version anyway, it looks interesting.

word verification "bleedg"? Where do they get these from?

  5. Your instincts are correct.

Drew Carey's old show's theme song to the contrary, Cleveland does NOT rock.

  7. I think of the scene in "This is Spinal Tap" where the guy yells "Hello, Cleveland!" during their concert in Chicago.

  14. Wow. Just-- Wow. Thank god someone in the medical field still has a sense of humor! I'm adding about half of those songs to my online player. Sad that I know all but 2 and I was born in 1981. Hanging out with old Hippies will do that to you I guess...

  15. Anon- I think the owner of the Beatles' copyrights is the late Michael Jackson.

  16. so. very. funny.
having been born in 1984 I'm probably the youngest person to comment on this here today (please tell me if I'm wrong), and I know ALL the songs. disturbing.

re: the Michael Jackson thing. You're right! How strange is that. I remember reading it in one of the (way too) many articles/blurbs about MJ.

  18. Dr. Grumpy, you're missing out! We fine city folk of Cleveland have much to offer you! Such as losing sports teams, high crime rates, some malls... umm... well, our bars are REALLY good... I hear they serve a mean Diet Coke. I think you should reconsider your decision. ;)

  19. Brings back memories of dating via match.com circa 1997. Arie Blitz was a CT surgery resident (maybe fellow) at my hospital and had a profile on match.com. Wonder if he's married now.
