This is Not Encouraging

Dropped the twins off for the first day of school.

Marquee in front said "WELCOME BACK! WE ARE EXITED TOO BE STARTING!"

I can only hope this was a joke.

  1. Maybe they figured it was the only way today's students would understand it?

  4. It'll be gone by the time you go back to take a pic for failblog. 27 mothers will have called to complain already.

  5. Yeah, I should have, but I don't carry a camera.

My cell phone is from 2003, and there is no way to get the pics out of it. Not sure why it included a camera in the first place.

  8. I frequently have to go to a local University as an external assessor. I park next to a sign that says 'Parking space's for official visitor's only'.

Drives me nuts every time I see it.

Or should that be, 'Drives me nut's'.

    Grr.

  9. this reminds me of the time i got my daughter into big time trouble at school when i sent back a note from the teacher - with all my grammar and spelling corrections done in red!

  10. Just remember, it's the lower rung school administration (read:minimum wage for life) types that make those signs at schools, not the teachers, so I'm sure your kids are going to be just fine.

Besides, they have grumpy genes!! They could go to school in Botswana and be fine!

And, get a new phone! :P

  11. Wow Danielle. Sounds like something I would do :). I got in trouble once a few years back while working at a retail store for sending an email back to the coporate office with some corrections highlighted... oops.

  12. Have you tried attaching the pictures to a text meesage and then sending to your email account?

I had a phone with the same problem and that's how I got around it. You can then download the photos and edit at will.

The biggest issue is figuring out how to enter your email address. The @ symbol is tricky.

  13. @Hospital Lab Tech:

    I *know* what you mean.

Look up "The Law of Conservation of Apostrophes".

    You'll love it.

I resisted the strong temptation to misuse them in this response.

  14. I sent back plenty of paperwork last year with corrections done in red ink. Nothing came home and got signed without me correcting it if necessary (and it usually was).

  17. Yikes! Starting? Starting what? Welcome to start exiting?

(I never can remember how to spell the word 'excellent' so I always had to picture the sign on Bruno's Pizza regarding his very excellent hand-tossed pizzas, but the shop closed some five years ago, so have had to rely on other tricks, such avoiding ants at Bruno's.

In efforts for more egalitarianism among cell-phone texters, how about advocating for wide-spread use of esperanto, and limiting the alphabet to 14 letters at the most-eliminate 'b', 'c', 'g', 'h', 'j', 'n', 'p', 'q', 'v', 'w', and 'x', and maybe 'y'?

  18. Ugh. I'd be firing someone. Different schools have different employees doing the marquee . . . at our school, I simply give our custodian a list of what's to go on there, and he puts up the letters. If the principal at that "exiting" school is responsible, someone needs too shute him.

  19. This blog is fabulous! I, too, work in the healthcare industry as an administrator. I would LOVE to talk about the crazy crap in my life although, sorry to say, most of my stories would be about the docs.

Maybe I should go incognito, too??

  20. Chrissy- that's what I'd do.

I avoid other docs. They're wierd.
