What the Hell is With This Music?

Is there a company that specializes in recording reggae versions of popular songs for use on cruise ships? It's like freakin' calypso Muzak.

So far today I've heard reggae Foreigner, Rolling Stones, The Kinks, Neil Diamond, and disco.

Do they have reggae versions of "The Wreck of the Edmund Fitzgerald", mon?

  1. Because Reggae = Exotic Vacation

Really it's just for the rich people who think anything of that 'type' of music is strange and exotic.

  2. You know your totally right. I've been on a few cruises and I've heard the "all reggae all the time"...but didnt think why??

And I was on Holland America. Not that I'm rich, my old rich parents paid for it.

  4. They did some reggae country this afternoon, but I have no idea who the original artist was.

The "My pick-up busted, de woman she left, and I all out of ganja" 2-step.

  5. OMG! I so feel your pain.

I was at my favorite Chinese restaurant at Christmas last year when they put on a reggae Christmas CD. At first, it was peculiar, but then...

You have not lived until you've heard the reggae version of "Angeals We Have Heard in High."

  6. One of my fondest memories is listing to the house band in the hotel in Guyana play a reggae version of Blue Oyster Cult's "Godzilla". This may be related to the fact that I'm a serious BOC fanboy.
