Thanks, Ron

I got this voicemail last night at 6:45:

"Hi, this is Ron, at Local Pharmacy. An amazingly clueless patient of yours is here now, asking for a medication refill. She doesn't know what it's called, or why she takes it. If you have any idea, please call me."

Nice to know my patients are driving others nuts, too. I'd hate to think I was hogging it all.

  1. I'm assuming Ms.Clueless Patient at least knows her name, the pharmacy could look it up that way.(if she doesn't,someone else needs to be handling her rx pickups!)

  2. Yeah, type1emt, unless she didn't get it filled at that pharmacy...I can't tell you how many times someone has come in saying they need a medication that Dr. Smith wrote for them - don't know the name, what it's for, why they took it. But they need it. And there's either 12 scripts written by Dr. Smith in her profile (and when I ask her about those they don't ring a bell), or she hasn't filled anything with us since 2003.

  3. and they always NEED it right NOW or else they will DIE even though they haven't gotten it here since 2006. Sigh, I love telling patients, no, we won't loan you an emergency supply because we didn't fill it.

  4. I love the "If I don't get my medicine now, I'll die" excuse. Sorry, guilt trips dont work on me. We can't treat emergencies at the pharmacy. And why, oh why, must they always wait til they're completely out of medicine before calling us on Friday night at 9PM?!?
