Why? Why? Why? Why? Why?

If I ordered physical therapy, and told you to come back afterwards to see how you were doing, DO NOT come back to me 4 weeks later, complaining of how you are no better WHEN YOU DIDN'T EVEN BOTHER TO GO TO THE FREAKIN' THERAPY.

Saying "I dunno" when I ask why you didn't go is NOT an acceptable answer.

Telling me you needed the co-pay money to buy cigarettes is not going to get you any sympathy, either.

  1. This was funny!

Have seen similar patients answer why they didn't go for cognitive behavior therapy sessions.

One of the weirdest answers was:

Mother In Law - If the session is all about talk, I did rather call my daughter-in-law. She doesn't shut up.
On second thoughts, maybe its her nonstop talking that's increased my anxiety.

  2. I've always wondered about people who don't make any changes and don't plan on instituting any of the changes or therapies suggested by the doctors they see. If you don't want to do any of it, why the heck are you going in?!

I've been reading your blog for a while now and I *LOVE* it.

  3. Hey, my word confirm is worse! How awesome is that?

I feel your pain here...it's not just in neuro. Patients skip PT, meds, OV for me and then complain that they don't feel better. Well, no shit Sherlock!

  4. Yeah, smoking your Marlboro and telling me that you can't afford your $3 welfare RX copay for an antibiotic for STD that you picked up while using is not going to get any sympathy from me! None, don't even start whining that life is not fair.

  5. Dr. Grumpy, I see this phenomenon in all aspects of life. People beg for advice, don't follow what you give them and then complain about their worsening condition. It is one of those things I hate about humanity.

  7. But let me guess, he or she wanted his or her Vicodin refilled.

  8. Pt needs brand Soma b/c generic doesn't work. Rolling eyes. I do not stock brand Soma since it is 15 times as expensive as generic. Upon convincing her it was the same, she tells me she only takes 1/2 tab due to the drowsiness. But she takes a whole tab at night. I asked her if whole tab helped muscle spasm. She said it did.

Face plant. It's not the generic you dumbass. You're taking half the freaking dose!

  9. beware of patients requesting brand name soma and vicodin, etc. Their street value increases if they are labeled as brand.

  10. What's the threshold for dumping a patient? refusing to follow up with treatments because they'd rather spend on cancer-sticks seems pretty far over that line.
