There are some journeys in life that we try not to discuss.
They can be so dark, so disturbing, so frightening, that even the bravest of adults don’t want to talk about them. When forced to do so we use hushed voices, as if silence will protect us, to no avail. Only once, in 1983, has a movie adequately portrayed the horror of one such journey.
And we face the most dreaded journey of all at this time. And it’s the Grumpy family’s turn to address it.
The time has come to confront our worst fears and begin.
It’s Summer vacation.
I miss summer vacation soooooooooo badly!! I wanna ride my bike, go swimming until I look like a walking prune, climb stuff and play tag all day long. Instead now I'll be forever schlepping it to work like a chump while my eyes grow dull with envy watching the kids in the neighborhood have fun!
ReplyDeletewell, if it is anything like your cruise, it should provide great blog fodder
ReplyDeleteDoes that mean no posts from you for like...a long time?! I must protest this dent in my blog viewing schedule.

ReplyDelete"This is no longer a vacation. It's a quest. It's a quest for fun. I'm gonna have fun and you're gonna have fun. We're all gonna have so much fucking fun we'll need plastic surgeory to remove our godamn smiles. You'll be whistling 'Zip-A-Dee Doo-Dah' out of you're assholes! I gotta be crazy! I'm on a pilgrimage to see a moose. Praise Marty Moose!"
"Sorry folks, Parks Closed! The moose up front shoulda toldya"
Thats one of my alltime favorite movies. Have fun whatever you and the family do. =)
Peedee, I don't know if you were following me when I posted our spring break adventure on the S.S. Buffet. It's back in my March, 2009 posts.
ReplyDeleteJust read them and lmao. Your kids are pretty funny. I especially like that sassy little Marie. She's a keeper. ;)
ReplyDelete"Insanity is doing the same thing, over and over again, but expecting different results."
ReplyDeleteThe cruise posts were absolutely the funniest thing EVER. I can't wait to take this vacation along with you........
ReplyDeleteSummer vacation with the family falls under the heading, "No good deed goes unpunished."
ReplyDeleteLuckily for me, my family makes the Jerry Springer crowd look well adjusted. So I never had the horror/honor out traveling with them when I was young.
So what's the secret to surviving traveling with the family? Ketamine and the Diet Coke diet?
Form me being trapped with the parentul units, it would be propofol IV drip and a vent. Yeah, I think I could tolerate them with that.
