Doing some "catch-up" reading today.
The November 20, 2008 issue of "Neurology Today" actually featured an article which found that epilepsy patients who DON'T take their seizure medicines are more likely to have seizures, and seizure-related health problems, then those who DO take their pills.
Duh.
I can only imagine how much that study cost. Just goes to show...common sense isn't very common!
ReplyDeleteM3 here. Saw a patient on my ER rotation in February. He had a seizure on the street. He had run out of seizure meds a week before. This is usually what happens.
ReplyDeleteEarly May, I'm on OB/gyn, and I stop in the ER for about 10 minutes to see a consult. In that tiny interval, I see the same guy wheeling by (in a different hospital on the complete other end of town). I asked the EMTs if he was there because he had a seizure. Of course. I wonder why.
