Several of you have written in that Rent-A-Dildo.com is a fake, and was featured on Museum of Hoaxes as far back as 2005.
And, I must admit, you are right. I looked into it, and discovered that (as suggested on Museum of Hoaxes) when you try to join, or click on the button for a free trial, you are informed it doesn't exist.
So, I'm sorry. I guess I should have looked into it further. I am now fully admitting my error to all, as I try to be a responsible blogger (are we considered journalists of some sort? I doubt it).
On the one hand I'm glad to know such a gross, disease-spreading, business idea doesn't really exist. But there is also a vague sense of sadness in knowing that I got taken, and that the entrepreneurial spirit isn't quite as unlimited as I thought.
And to the unknown person who set the site up to see how many suckers would believe it, I admit that you got me.

I was had, too. But, I can certainly see how we were - such a thing is not beyond imagination.
Well, damn. That's just no fun at all.
Partypoopers.
>:(
Oh I'll bet someone tried to get a SBA loan for it at some point. Just because it didn't happen doesn't mean someone hasn't tried :).
I believed it too. But when you deal with stupid people on a regular basis, stuff like this doesn't sound too far-fetched.
geez talk about being led up the garden path! and i was all ready to try a few things out too.
Ah...the suckered me as well...but hey...at least it made for some interesting blog material/discussions
Did you know that there's no such word as 'gullible' in the dictionary?
Yep, I ran for my dictionary, informing my child that he was absolutely mistaken.
Got taken, too. By a ten year old. Man that, hurts.
Dr. G. says: "On the one hand I'm glad to know such a gross, disease-spreading, business idea doesn't really exist. But there is also a vague sense of sadness in knowing that I got taken, and that the entrepreneurial spirit isn't quite as unlimited as I thought."
Sounds like his feelings are multifactorial.
I'm another who believed it. Ah well, the world is simultaneously a cleaner and more boring place.
At least this tells your loyal readers that you didn't try to join!
Well, if it makes you feel any better, my aunt sends a mass email forward about every two weeks or so warning me that killers will give me business cards that will kill me, or that my gps will transmit my exact location to rapists or whatever. And I send her the link to snopes.com, and then she sends out a mass email apologizing to everyone. Within a few weeks, the cycle repeats itself.
Still, the thought of it was gross, and too disgusting for us to look into it for ourselves.
I believed it, too, and I am usually the first to run my forwarded stuff past "Snopes" for verification. Considering what you DO see and hear every day, finding this plausible isn't that huge a stretch.......Pattie, RN
just as i was wondering why the site didn't have a message indicating that their products couldn't be shipped to customers in AL.... lol. damn good spoof. of course, someone once got me with the gullible line, too!
funny how the ad under this post reads: "A Nurse Knows What Others Don't Free Consult-Call Now 866-781-7881" ;-)
Doesn't mean that you and a few friends can't start your own "loaner club" though, right?
what??? Are you telling me that my order is not on its way? I guess I will make other plans for the weekend
